Squarespace Web Design Services
We design and build Squarespace websites from a blank canvas. No bought templates, no layout you have seen on ten other sites. As an Official Squarespace Expert agency we have delivered more than 500 of them since 2018, for one-person consultancies and for companies with nine-figure funding rounds.
Official Squarespace Expert · 500+ sites since 2018 · 109 five-star Google reviews
SpaceWorks designs and builds custom Squarespace websites from scratch. A one page site starts at $1,500, a five page Essentials build at $2,750, and fully bespoke projects at $6,500. Most sites go from signed brief to live in three to four weeks, and every build includes a training video so you can run the site yourself afterwards.

What "custom" means when the platform is Squarespace
Plenty of designers sell a Squarespace site that is a $60 marketplace template with the colours changed. It looks fine on day one and then you spend the next two years fighting a layout somebody else designed for a business that is not yours.
We start from an empty Squarespace 7.1 site and build the page structure section by section. Type scale, spacing, grid, component behaviour and interaction states are all decided for your project. Where the native editor runs out of road we extend it with custom CSS and JavaScript, which is where a decade on the platform earns its keep: we know which parts of Squarespace can be safely overridden and which ones will break the next time Squarespace ships an update.
The result still opens in the normal Squarespace editor. You get a site that looks bespoke and behaves like a CMS your marketing coordinator can use.
What every build includes
- A custom homepage concept designed and approved before any other page is built
- Mobile-first layouts checked at every Squarespace breakpoint, not just scaled down
- Technical SEO fundamentals: heading hierarchy, unique titles and meta descriptions, image compression, alt text, clean URLs, sitemap submission
- Accessible contrast, focus states and keyboard navigation
- Analytics wired up, usually GA4 and Search Console, plus any integrations you need
- A screen recording that walks through your specific site, not a generic Squarespace tutorial
- 30 days of email support after launch
Packages and pricing
Prices below are the starting points. We quote properly after a discovery call, and the quote does not move unless the scope does.
A single conversion-focused page. Right for new businesses, campaign launches and anyone who needs credibility online this month.
Up to five pages, custom design throughout, SEO fundamentals and 30 days of post-launch support. This is what most businesses need.
Unlimited pages, custom functionality, multi-location or multi-brand structures, and a build scoped around whatever the business actually does.
How the project runs
1. Discovery call
Fifteen to thirty minutes on a video call. We want to know who buys from you, what they need to see before they enquire, and what the current site fails to do. You do not need a written spec.
2. Homepage concept
We design the homepage first and send it for feedback before touching anything else. If the direction is wrong, this is the cheap place to find out. Two rounds of revisions are included at this stage.
3. Build
Once the homepage is signed off, the rest of the site follows the system it establishes. You get a review link and can watch pages appear, and there is room for revisions here as well, not just at concept stage. We handle content loading, SEO setup, redirects from your old URLs and any integrations.
4. Launch
We connect the domain, check the redirect map, submit the sitemap, and record your training video. Then we stay on email for 30 days for the things that only surface once real people are using the site.
Is Squarespace the right platform for you?
We only build on Squarespace, so it is fair to be sceptical when we recommend it. Here is the honest version.
Squarespace is a good fit when you want a site that looks designed, needs to be updated by non-technical people, and has a page count in the tens rather than the thousands. Hosting, SSL, CDN and updates are handled for you, which removes a whole category of maintenance you would otherwise be paying somebody for.
Squarespace is the wrong fit if you need a genuinely custom database-backed application, thousands of programmatically generated pages, a multi-language site with proper hreflang handling, or a storefront with complex B2B pricing tiers. We will tell you that on the discovery call rather than three weeks into a build. If the answer is WordPress or Shopify, we would rather say so and keep the relationship.
Not sure which side of the line you fall on? Send us the brief and we will give you a straight answer.
Already have a Squarespace site?
About half our work is redesigns rather than first builds. Sometimes the sensible move is to rework the existing site, sometimes a fresh build costs less than untangling four years of accumulated workarounds. We look at what you have and tell you which one it is before you commit to anything.
If you are moving from another platform, the redirect map matters more than the design. We map every old URL to its new home before launch, which is how you keep the rankings you already have. More on that on the Squarespace SEO page.
What we need from you
Content is the single biggest factor in whether a project lands on schedule. We advise on structure, word counts and image specs, and we can point you at copywriters we trust, but the words and photos come from you. Projects that slip almost always slip because the copy is not ready when the build phase starts.
Where we work
We are based in the UK and work remotely with clients in the US, Europe, Australia and the Gulf. If you want someone who has worked in your market, we have local pages for London, Manchester, New York and Dubai.

The rest of what we do
Most projects pull in more than one of these. Everything below is handled by the same team.
Squarespace web design questions
SpaceWorks Squarespace websites start at $1,500 for a one page site, $2,750 for a five page Essentials build, and $6,500 for fully bespoke projects. The final figure depends on page count, custom functionality and how much of the content structure needs designing from scratch. We quote a fixed price after a discovery call and it only changes if the scope does.
Three to four weeks from signed brief to live site is typical, covering design, build, SEO setup, revisions and launch. Bespoke projects with custom functionality run longer. The most common cause of delay is content arriving late, so we agree a content deadline before the build phase starts.
No. We start from an empty Squarespace 7.1 site and build the layout section by section, then extend it with custom CSS and JavaScript where the native editor runs out. You are not buying a marketplace template with different colours on it.
Squarespace 7.1 with the Fluid Engine editor. If you are on 7.0 we will usually recommend rebuilding on 7.1 rather than extending an ageing site, because 7.0 no longer receives the same feature development and the editing experience is considerably worse.
Yes, that is the point of building on Squarespace. Every project ends with a screen recording walking through your specific site, showing where each section lives and how to change it. Clients routinely add pages, swap images and publish blog posts without coming back to us.
No, the words come from you. We advise on page structure, roughly how much copy each section needs, and what images to supply, and we can recommend copywriters we have worked with. Having the content ready before the build starts is the single biggest factor in hitting the timeline.
Yes, and roughly half our projects are redesigns. We look at the existing site and tell you honestly whether reworking it or rebuilding from scratch will cost you less. Either way we map old URLs to new ones before launch so you keep the search rankings you already have.
Yes. We are UK based and work with clients across the US, Europe, Australia and the Gulf. Everything runs remotely through video calls, a shared review link and async feedback. Time zones have not caused a problem across 500+ projects.
