Squarespace Website Support and Maintenance
Squarespace changes things. Your business changes faster. Something breaks the week you are away. We keep sites working, whether we built them or inherited them, on an hourly basis or a monthly retainer.
Official Squarespace Expert · 500+ sites since 2018 · 109 five-star Google reviews
Ad hoc Squarespace support is $100 an hour with no minimum term, or you can take a monthly retainer with a set block of hours and priority response. We cover design and content updates, new pages, integration fixes, speed reviews and site health checks. We support sites we did not build as well as ones we did.

What we cover
- Design and content updates, from a new team photo to restructuring a whole page
- New pages and sections built to match the existing design system
- Fixing things that broke: forms not sending, layouts collapsing on mobile, embeds that stopped rendering
- Integration troubleshooting when a connected tool changes something at their end
- Speed and Core Web Vitals reviews, usually the highest-impact hour anyone spends on an older site
- Squarespace version and plan advice, including whether a 7.0 site is worth rebuilding on 7.1
- DNS, domain and email routing problems, which we wrote up in a troubleshooting guide
- Monthly site health checks on retainer: broken links, form tests, speed, Search Console errors, plugin and script audit
- Seasonal work, promotions and campaign pages
Does a Squarespace site actually need maintenance?
Less than a WordPress site, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. Squarespace handles hosting, SSL, security patching and platform updates. There is no pile of plugins quietly rotting in the background, and nobody is going to hack your site because you missed an update.
What does need attention is everything specific to you: content that goes stale, forms that silently stop delivering after an email change, custom code that breaks when Squarespace ships a change, images that accumulate until the homepage takes six seconds to load, and pages that were right for the business two years ago. We wrote an honest answer to this question if you want the longer version, including the case for not paying anyone a retainer.
Hourly or retainer?
Pay for what you use. No minimum, no contract. Right for sites that need a couple of things a quarter. We estimate before starting and tell you if a job is going to run over.
A set block of hours each month, priority response ahead of ad hoc requests, and a monthly health check. Right for stores, sites running campaigns, and anyone who needs changes turned around the same week.
Most clients start hourly and move to a retainer when they notice they are requesting something most weeks. There is no pressure to start on one.
What a site health check covers
Retainer clients get one monthly. It takes us about an hour and it catches the things nobody notices until a customer complains.
- Every form submitted and confirmed as delivering to the right inbox
- Broken internal and outbound links
- Page speed and Core Web Vitals on the pages that matter, on mobile as well as desktop
- Search Console coverage, crawl and indexing errors
- Third-party scripts and embeds still doing something useful, and still working
- Checkout tested end to end, if there is a store
- Squarespace plan and billing sanity check, because people overpay for tiers they stopped needing
We take on sites we did not build
A good share of our support work is on sites built by somebody else, often by a designer who has moved on or gone quiet. We are used to it. First job is a walkthrough of what is there: what the custom code does, what is fragile, what is missing, what would give you the biggest improvement for the least money. You get that assessment as a written summary and it usually takes one to two hours.
Sometimes the honest conclusion is that the site is past repair and a rebuild costs less than another year of patching. We would rather tell you that in the first hour than bill you for the next twelve.
Response times
Ad hoc requests are picked up within one business day and scheduled by urgency. Retainer clients get priority, and genuinely broken things, a site down or a checkout failing, jump the queue for everyone. We are UK based, which means US afternoon requests are often waiting for you when you start the next morning.
Support included with every build
Every new site we deliver includes 30 days of email support after launch, plus a training video walking through your specific site. Most clients handle their own routine updates from that point, which is how it should be. We are here for the things that are genuinely beyond it, and there is a list of Squarespace courses if you want your team to get further on their own.
The rest of what we do
Most projects pull in more than one of these. Everything below is handled by the same team.
Squarespace support questions
Ad hoc support is $100 an hour with no minimum term or contract. Monthly retainers are quoted based on how many hours you need and are priced below the hourly rate. Most clients start hourly and move to a retainer once they notice they are asking for something most weeks.
Yes, and a good share of our support work is exactly that. We start with a walkthrough of what is there, what the custom code does, what is fragile and what would improve things most, and give you that as a written summary. It usually takes one to two hours.
Less than a WordPress site. Squarespace handles hosting, SSL, security patching and platform updates, so there are no plugins to keep updated. What does need attention is your specific site: forms that silently stop delivering, custom code broken by a platform change, images bloating page load, and content that has gone stale.
Ad hoc requests are picked up within one business day and scheduled by urgency. Retainer clients get priority. Genuinely broken things, a site that is down or a checkout that is failing, jump the queue regardless of arrangement.
Not on hourly work. You use us when you need us and there is nothing to cancel. Retainers run month to month and you can stop with 30 days notice. We do not tie support to a long contract because a support relationship you cannot leave is not worth much.
No, your Squarespace plan is billed by Squarespace directly and stays in your name, which is how it should be. We will happily review whether you are on the right plan, because people routinely pay for a commerce tier they stopped needing.
Usually yes. Sites down, checkouts failing and forms not delivering get treated as urgent and jump the queue for hourly and retainer clients alike. Get in touch with what is broken and what you have already tried and we will come straight back.
Every site we build ends with a screen recording covering your specific site rather than generic Squarespace tutorials, and we are happy to run a live session for a wider team on an hourly basis. Most clients handle routine updates themselves afterwards, which is the outcome we want.
