Plugin: Squarespace Cookie Banner - Force Decision [for Google Analytics]
Squarespace offers cookie banners built-in. It works well for most cases, however it’s not perfect…
If you’ve ever tried to improve your site’s compliance by enabling the ‘Opt-in & Out’ option, you will notice that the ‘Disable Analytics Cookies’ option is automatically set to ‘on’ and cannot be disabled.
By default, users are able to easily navigate your site without making a choice about their cookie preferences. This means that if a user lands on your site and they ignore the cookie banner, no Google Analytics or Squarespace cookies will be dropped. This leads to inaccurate data collection and analytics - often reporting wildly inaccurate numbers of users coming to the site.
With this plugin, your users will be forced to make a decision about cookies in order to navigate your site.
We have also added some styling to make the ‘accept’ button more enticing to click (without compromising on the availability of the ‘decline’ button).
