A Day in the Life of a Squarespace Designer in Toronto
Hello! I'm Tamires, a web designer at SpaceWorks, a global Squarespace Web Design studio based in Dubai. Although our team is spread across the world, I’m writing to you from my home in Toronto, Canada.
Today, I want to share what a typical day looks like for me and give you a glimpse into my work processes.
Starting the Day with Team Synergy
My day usually starts around 8 AM, right when we have our daily team meeting. Despite being scattered across different time zones, this meeting is crucial. We go through exciting projects that breaks the boundaries of Squarespace, check for any blockers or doubts, and organize our tasks for the day. Doing dynamic work at SpaceWorks Studio
At SpaceWorks, our work is incredibly dynamic, catering to a wide range of clients and industries. Whether it's a full design request or building on an existing design, our tasks vary significantly. Sometimes, I design and build a website from scratch. Other times, I bring another team member’s design to life on Squarespace.
Right now, I'm working on a website build for a marketing consultancy agency. This project was beautifully designed by my colleague, Alicia (shoutout to her fantastic work!). We’ve been on this project for two months, and it’s exciting to see it coming together. In parallel, I'm also handling small updates for other ongoing projects, adding those final touches before they go live.
Our agency is known for integrating custom coding into our Squarespace builds. This allows us to perfectly match our clients' designs, even when Squarespace’s built-in features have limitations. It’s a meticulous process, but it’s what sets us apart.
A Change of Scenery
After a productive morning, I usually cook lunch at home. In the afternoons, I often like to change my work environment and head to the Toronto Public Library. It’s a beautiful and quiet place, perfect for focusing on creative tasks. Here’s a snapshot of my favorite spot in the library:
Exploring Toronto
Once work is done, I enjoy exploring the city. As an immigrant from Brazil, having moved here last year, I’ve found Toronto to be incredibly diverse and welcoming. With spring in full bloom, I love taking evening walks around my neighborhood and down to Sugar Beach. Living close to the water is something I cherish, and these walks are a great way to unwind after a day’s work.
